Ann Petry



Today is February 1, 2018, the first day of Black History month of this year, and I am honored to write and post about an iconic pioneer, who paved the way for many writers of melanin - such as myself. Ann Petry.


Ann Petry was born on October 12, 1908 in Old Saybrook Connecticut, and she became the first woman of color  ( Black / Israelite ) to sale over a million copies for a novel. As a novelist and author, Ms Petry broke glass ceilings when she published her book, The Street in 1946.

Yesterday was one of those Sundays... I was under the weather, and in and out of cat-naps. I woke up at 2 pm and went to the kitchen to warm up an Everything bagel with Salmon Cream Cheese - Delish ! Okay enough with the food xxx talk. While snacking and I decided to look for something good to dive into on tv. Eventually, I ended up finding a documentary called The Seven Five, and it didn't disappoint one bit.  The Seven Five is a documentary that's approximately close to two hours long - which wasn't an issue for me at all, especially being that it grabbed my attention right away. The streaming service platform that I watched the documentary on acknowledged the film to be presented by All3media in association with Belfor entertainment, and another source cites that Tiller Russel directed it, and Sony Pictures recently purchased. Rape by way of Society

Let's start here. RAPE: unlawful sexual activity and usually sexual intercourse carried out forcibly or under threat of injury against the will usually of a female or with a person who is beneath a certain age or incapable of valid consent because of mental illness, mental deficiency, intoxication, unconsciousness, or deception. Deception and PROPAGANDA are forms of rape as well - something that we rarely hear about. Deception, and Propaganda are two products of manipulation. This occurs when a person or an entity have an hidden agenda, whether it be personal, business, spiritual, or on a grander scale. Not all rape is sexual. What about mental rape? Every person on Earth has been mentally raped at some point or another. If you own a television, phone, computer, or any media device - you've been a victim as well.
