Day 2 of Chakra Meditation & Yoga challenge

Image
Although, I vowed to start my 30-day Chakra healing challenge over a week ago, I actually just begun as of yesterday. Therefore, this evening will be day-2. As of now, I'm focusing specifically on my root chakra, next week will be my heart chakra, and the following week will be dedicated to the focus of my crown chakra. The fourth week, in closing, I will focus on all three simultaneously. Currently, I'm practicing during evening and night hours before bed time, however, in a matter of days, I will readjust to the opposite and begin to meditate and practice  during sunrise. I started with a couple of poses and techniques that I came across on YouTube, and I'm very comfortable, and confident in those who I'm learning from at this time. Again, I'm fairly to new to yoga, in fact I know absolutely nothing about it, I meditate for 2 minutes before distractions kicks in, and I'm a baby to chakra system knowledge. Therefore, I am a work in progress, but I b

Learning the Chakra System

Image
Over the past few years, I've been hearing about and coming across information regarding the chakra system by way of the New Age generation on social media and some friends, but as spiritual and as open-minded as I am, I never took the time to do my own individual research. Maybe because I wasn't interested or maybe due to the fact that it simply wasn't my time to evolve into that sector of enlightenment. A couple of days ago, I came across a site that does chakra testing, and so I partook in it just for the hell of it and to see what this craze way is all about. When the results came in, I learned that most of my chakra points are balanced with the exception of my root chakra, and this sent me into research mode.  Now, let's back-up for a second. For beginners like myself, chakras are the major energy/spiritual centers in the human body that starts from the crown of the head to the base of the spine. These major special points in the body affec

Early this morning I surfed my way through my private streaming service, Hulu, and Netflix until I came across a documentary title and trailer that sucked me in from the jump. The documentary title is 13 , a film that's directed by Ava Duvernay, the title's origin comes from the 13th Amendment of the United States Constitution - which was supposed to be put in place to grant freedom to ALL americans, and it was released in 2016. The film highlights the state of African Americans post civil war, the depiction of people of color post civil war- specifically Black men, the exploitation of the exceptions and loopholes of the 13th Amendment, and the big business of the prison system & the criminal justice industry. The film taps on The Birth of a Nation - a 1915 film that was directed by D.W. Griffith and how it shaped the way race plays out up to this very date by depicting the African-American male as a menace to society and a super-predator. This ultimately in

Ann Petry

Today is February 1, 2018, the first day of Black History month of this year, and I am honored to write and post about an iconic pioneer, who paved the way for many writers of melanin - such as myself. Ann Petry. Ann Petry was born on October 12, 1908 in Old Saybrook Connecticut, and she became the first woman of color  ( Black / Israelite ) to sale over a million copies for a novel. As a novelist and author, Ms Petry broke glass ceilings when she published her book, The Street in 1946.
