Early this morning I surfed my way through my private streaming service, Hulu, and Netflix until I came across a documentary title and trailer that sucked me in from the jump. The documentary title is 13 , a film that's directed by Ava Duvernay, the title's origin comes from the 13th Amendment of the United States Constitution - which was supposed to be put in place to grant freedom to ALL americans, and it was released in 2016. The film highlights the state of African Americans post civil war, the depiction of people of color post civil war- specifically Black men, the exploitation of the exceptions and loopholes of the 13th Amendment, and the big business of the prison system & the criminal justice industry. The film taps on The Birth of a Nation - a 1915 film that was directed by D.W. Yesterday was one of those Sundays... I was under the weather, and in and out of cat-naps. I woke up at 2 pm and went to the kitchen to warm up an Everything bagel with Salmon Cream Cheese - Delish ! Okay enough with the food xxx talk. While snacking and I decided to look for something good to dive into on tv. Eventually, I ended up finding a documentary called The Seven Five, and it didn't disappoint one bit. The Seven Five is a documentary that's approximately close to two hours long - which wasn't an issue for me at all, especially being that it grabbed my attention right away. The streaming service platform that I watched the documentary on acknowledged the film to be presented by All3media in association with Belfor entertainment, and another source cites that Tiller Russel directed it, and Sony Pictures recently purchased.
